Dr Botond Lakatos is a medical doctor active in the field of infectious diseases and HIV with interest in clinical research and quality improvement. He is a dedicated clinician participating in the national and international medical scientific community as author of several original paper and part of cooperations. After medical school (summa cum laude) performed his residency in infectious diseases at Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary. He has obtained a position at the National Institute of Hematology and Infectious Diseases - Saint Laszlo Hospital as fellow in infectious diseases. Between 2009 and 2013 he was a board member of the Executive Committee in the Trainees Association of European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infection. Completing board exam of infectiology (excellent) Dr Lakatos has been selected for scientific exchange program endorsed by European AIDS Clinical Society in Madrid, Hospital La Paz and later for clinical research grant supported jointly by International Society for Infectious Diseases and Swiss Society for Infectious Diseases at University Hospital Basel. He has been a recipient of several national and international grants and awards, being author of numerous scientific publications. Completed his PhD thesis in the field of HIV medicine, he is a senior ID physician and consultant at National Institute of Hematology and Infectious Diseases, Department of HIV and Tropical Diseases also senior lecturer at Semmelweis University Department of Infectious Diseases. Dr. Lakatos has recently completed the Gorgas Diploma of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. Dr. Lakatos has been appointed for a particular role in COVID-19 pandemic as a co-leader of the COVID treatment guideline protocol panel. He has several publications and collaborations in the field of COVID-19 therapeutic area.
