Janez Tomažič is a is a chief physician of all wards for adult patients at the Clinic for Infectious Diseases, University Medical Centre Ljubljana and Professor of Medicine, Head of Chamber for Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology at Medical Faculty, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He is also Head of HIV/AIDS activity in Slovenia. During more than thirty years in the field of HIV he carried out numerous scientific projects and contributed to international research activities.  He was national principal investigator in several studies. He is an invited speaker at many scientific meetings at home and abroad and he is author and co-author of more than 200 various scientific publications and posters, published or presented in Slovenia and abroad with more than 40 publications cited in SCI. He was visiting physician in Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospital, London, UK, San Francisco General Hospital and Cleveland Clinic Foundation, USA. Besides HIV, his main research interests include infections in immunocompromised patients, tick-borne diseases and immune responses and COVID-19.
