Dr. Balayan joined the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Republic of Armenia as an epidemiologist in 2015. She coordinates preventive measures and is involved in monitoring the HIV situation in Armenia. Her research focuses on the quality of life among the people living with HIV. In this position, she contributes to development of national guidelines and protocols on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. In the past, Dr. Balayan worked at various public health agencies. In particular, she cooperated with the National Center for AIDS Prevention as a monitoring and evaluation specialist for over 5 years and taught hygiene and ecology courses at Yerevan State Medical University.
